Tom, financial management auditor

What has been your career path?

I graduated from the EMLYON Business School in 2015. I did an internship with Total in Argentina in 2013, and my end-of-course internship with a consulting firm in Barcelona. I joined Arkema in 2015 as a management auditor.

What is your job about?

My role is to ensure the reliability of the financial information that Arkema produces. That means I have to check and analyze the company's financial data within the given deadlines.

Can you describe your main responsibilities?

I do monthly reporting to ensure the reliability and consistency of the reported information. I contribute to developing the management framework and I have to train Arkema's finance employees. Lastly, I sometimes have to conduct studies in response to various requests from the company's management or central departments.

What is your job about?

It is a very wide-ranging job, and one that can be defined by the person doing it: there are aspects of accounting, other aspects that are much more financial or technical, as well as project management. The other advantage is that its lets me work with many different departments in Arkema: financial communication, consolidation, accounting, finance optimization, and all the business units. We are also asked to send analyses directly to the executive committee.

What do you like about your job?

I speak with plenty of different people about a wide range of subjects, with new ones arising all the time. The diversity of the subjects and the problems that we have to deal with interest me. Lastly, I enjoy leading cross-functional projects involving different departments of the company and managing to reconcile different points of view.

What do you like about Arkema?

What I like is the energy behind our activity and the company's openness to change. Furthermore, Arkema offers many opportunities to move to new jobs or even professions!

One of your qualities and one flaw?

I get on well with people, even if I am sometimes stubborn!

Do you have a motto in your work or life in general?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Offering proposals is how we move things forward, even at the risk of sometimes making mistakes!

Finance - Audit - Accounting

The Accounting and Management Control Department produces the consolidated accounts that form an essential part of the company's annual report and registered reference document.
