A strong CSR policy recognized by extra-financial ratings
Our CSR approach is regularly assessed by extra-financial rating agencies and our clients on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria basis.
These ratings, which are especially interesting for investors, confirm the adequacy of our CSR approach and rank us among the best performing companies in our sector.
CSA & DJSI
The Standard & Poor's Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is an annual evaluation of companies’ sustainability practices. Each year over 7,300 companies around the world are assessed.
In 2020, Arkema joined the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World and Europe. These indices include the top performing companies in terms of CSR based on the ratings of the Standard & Poor's CSA.
The composition of Dow Jones sustainability indices is determined once a year on the basis of stringent environmental, social and governance criteria. Only the top 10% of the world's best companies assessed in each sector are included in the DJSI World, while the top 20% of the best companies headquartered in Europe are included in the DJSI Europe.
Moody's ESG Solutions and CAC 40® ESG
Moody’s ESG Solutions uses environmental, social, business ethics, human rights, human resources and governance criteria to rate the CSR performance of companies.
Since 2015, Arkema is a constituent of the Euronext V.E Eurozone 120 and Euronext V.E Europe 120 indexes, which gather the 120 top performing listed companies in terms of corporate social responsibility in the Euro area and in Europe, according to Moody’s ESG Solutions rating criteria.
In 2023, Arkema was placed by Moody’s ESG Solutions at the top of the chemicals companies assessed worldwide, and in the top percentile of companies across all sectors, with an ESG overall score of 69.
Since 2021, Arkema has been included in the CAC 40® ESG index on the Paris Stock Exchange, which identifies the 40 companies within the CAC® Large 60 index that demonstrate the best environmental, social and governance practices.
CDP
CDP, an international non-profit organization which analyzes the integration of the environmental dimension in the strategies of over 8 000 companies around the world, has assessed Arkema in the following three major areas:
- Climate change: Arkema received a “A -“ rating in 2023.
- Water management: Arkema received a “B” rating in 2023.
- Supplier Engagement: Arkema received a “A” rating in 2022.
EcoVadis
EcoVadis rating is mainly monitored by our clients. It is based on the evaluation of the quality of a company's CSR management system through its policies, actions and results.
Four themes are covered:
- Environment
- Labor and human rights
- Business ethics
- Sustainable procurement
EcoVadis also allows us to assess the CSR performance of our suppliers and thus encourage a responsible approach throughout our supply chain.
Arkema ranks among the 4% top performing companies in its sector since 2014.
MSCI
MSCI measures companies resilience to long-term, industry material environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks. Their methodology is to identify industry leaders and laggards according to their exposure to ESG risks and how well they manage those risks relative to peers.
MSCI, has assigned an « A » rating to Arkema since 2017.
Sustainalytics ESG
Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings measure company’s exposure to its industry specific material ESG risks and how well a company is managing those risks.
In January 2024, Arkema received an ESG Risk Rating of 18.4 and was assessed by Sustainalytics to be at low risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors.

ISS ESG
ISS ESG assesses the ESG performance of companies providing investors with in-depth information to effectively integrate sustainability into their investment decision.
ISS ESG has awarded Arkema a "C+" rating since 2019 and places us in the 1st decile globally.
FTSE4Good
The FTSE4Good Index is based on the FSTE ESG Rating, which takes into account a company's exposure to ESG issues and a comparison with peers in its sector. Only companies with a rating above a certain threshold are included in the index.
Arkema is member of FTSE4Good index since 2015.
