Mesityl oxide (MO) is a α-unsaturated ketone. It is mainly used in fine chemistry in the synthesis of vitamins, flavour and fragrances. It is also an intermediate in the synthesis of MIBK, MIBC and DIBK. MO can be a used as a solvent in inks, coating or agrochemicals.
