Smart adhesives
Bostik, an Arkema company, offers solutions with excellent initial strength and quick bonding, and precise application methods ensures minimum waste. Bostik’s Hot Melt Polyurethane (HMPUR) and Water-Based Adhesive (WBA) adhesives are ideal for interior assembly applications, including navigation panels, speakers, upholstery, carpeting and door systems. The benefits of using these adhesives include extended vehicle durability, longevity and improved overall vehicle performance. Specifically developed as part of an electronic solution for automotive applications, Bostik adhesives offer users superior damping performance and excellent mechanical resistance.
Smart surfaces
Human-machine interface (HMI) inside a connected vehicle is maximized by intuitive technology that gathers information from the smart surfaces integrated into its interior. Beyond communication and control, the driving experience is also customizable based on the passenger’s specifications and settings inside the vehicle. Arkema’s Piezotech® FC copolymers are ideally suited to the manufacture of thin, flexible sensors for varied and unique automotive applications. Versatile, resistant and energy efficient, these copolymers offer users a range of mechanical properties to heighten the quality of the in-cabin HMI experience.
Interior rubber parts and TPV
Arkema’s range of Ekaland™, Mixland® and Vultac® vulcanization agents for EPDM electronic cables offers users faster dispersion, increased efficiency and higher process consistency. Vulcanization is the process of heating rubber with sulfur to achieve increased elasticity and structural resistance. In automotive assembly, vulcanized rubber is most commonly used in anti-vibration systems, as well as for functional and decorative rubber parts throughout the vehicle’s interior. In the development of ethylene-propylene-diene elastomer (EPDM) for wire insulation, our vulcanization agents ensure excellent flexibility and resistance to abrasion.
Polyurethane CASE applications
Polyurethane CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Elastomers) can easily be tailored to match an endless variety of shapes, making it an attractive material for car interior components. Both versatile and durable, it can be used to construct carpets as well as air filters. It is also used in steering wheels where it adds to driving comfort. Siliporite® Molecular sieves powders are strong and reliable desiccants widely used in two components (2K) PU CASE formulations. Our Siliporite powders enable you to optimize formulation performance by avoiding presence of moisture, tailor the pot life, shortening return to service time, improving surface appearance and adhesion of the final product.
