D1 Arkema

Arkema is proud to make a long term commitment to women’s football. In conjunction with the French Football Federation, the Group is continuing to promote and help develop the sport and highlight the value of women in sport and business.

A long-term partnership

Arkema is lending its support to the French Division 1 women’s football league as of the 2019–2020 season, becoming D1 Arkema. This is the next logical step in its commitment: Arkema was already a national supporter of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™.

This naming partnership agreement with Arkema has been signed for 3 years, and renewed in 2022, up to 2025.

"Being the ‘namer’ of the Women’s D1 for us soon became an obvious and natural extension of our partnering of the Women’s World Cup. It is an asset for the Arkema brand, but also a strong commitment for the Group. Contributing with the FFF to developing women’s football in France is a great opportunity to further raise the image and the place of women in society. The world is changing, and it is essential to shine a different light, to shift the boundaries; at Arkema this is our mindset and our firm belief."

Arkema and the French Football Association (FFF) are therefore pursuing a common goal in developing women’s football.

As its president, Noël Le Graët, explains: “This partnership with Arkema is the next part of the Association’s action plan to promote women’s football. The FFF has been highly committed to promoting and structuring the women’s amateur and professional games and also women’s football training since 2011”.

Strong Group involvement

In addition to the naming partnership agreement signed between Arkema and the FFF, and the increased visibility of the sport at a national level, the Group is also involved at a local level. Our production sites are encouraged to support local women’s football teams through sponsorship or by donating equipment.

This was already in place during the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™. Already sponsored by the GRL (Arkema’s Lacq research center - news in French), Arkema sent FC Gan football club 50 tickets for the France national team’s match against Norway in Nice.

Three clubs near our research center in Serquigny (France) were also invited to attend the matches in Le Havre.

In New York, the Group also decided to help the local women’s team by donating training equipment, for example.

These efforts, to be progressively rolled out across more Arkema sites, are an integral part of our Common Ground® program with our stakeholders.

There are different ways to follow D1 Arkema’s development. You can keep up to date with the latest news, fixtures and match results, for example, on the FFF website [in French].
