DMDS for agricultural soil fumigation
Originally developed as a methyl bromide replacement, dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) has demonstrated consistent performance as a broad spectrum soil fumigant used for the control or suppression of nematodes, various soil-borne plant diseases and weeds, with particular success against nutsedge (Cyperus sp.).
Globally, an integrated pest management strategy based on DMDS has demonstrated a consistent ability to deliver marketable yields that are comparable to methyl bromide, but at a distinctly lower cost.
