FAQ about SDS/MSDS
1. How does Arkema develop its Safety Data Sheets (SDS)?
All our SDSs are generated from our SAP-EHS database, which centralizes our product formulas and their toxicological, ecotoxicological, and physicochemical properties. Dedicated software draws on this data to create consistent, up-to-date SDSs that are translated into the formats required in each market (up to 40 languages).
2. How can I view and download Arkema SDSs?
Visit our Quick-SDS website via secure access. With just a few clicks, you can find the SDSs for all of our finished products and raw materials, available in PDF format.
3. How and how often will I receive the SDSs?
Automatically:
- When you place your first order for an Arkema product.
- If you have not ordered this product for more than 12 months.
- Each time the SDS is significantly revised (see question 4).
- On request: via the Quick-SDS assistant, for any one-off request (paper or electronic “safebox” version), with traceability of shipments.
4. When is an SDS updated?
In accordance with Article 31 of the REACH Regulation, we publish a new dated version:
- as soon as new information on hazards or risk management becomes available,
- after a REACH authorization or restriction decision.“Major” updates are automatically sent to all customers who have placed an order in the previous 12 months. ‘Minor’ changes are posted on Quick-MSDS and in your safebox.
5. What is a “generic” MSDS?
A generic SDS covers several similar variants of the same substance or mixture (e.g., different colors of the same product). It simplifies access to information for similar product ranges.
6. What is an extended SDS (eSDS)?
In addition to the standard SDS, the eSDS includes one or more Exposure Scenarios (ES) from the REACH chemical safety assessment. These detail the conditions for safe use of the product throughout its life cycle. eSDSs are only accessible to the customers concerned (those who ordered the product) and our internal teams.
