The many programs rolled out by Arkema which Gérard Langlais, Director of Sustainable Development at Arkema, were addressed at the "Fast Mitigation for High-Emitting Sectors" conference organized by the BSR association on Friday 22 May in Paris.
Arkema contributes in different ways to the fight against global warming. Over and above its environmental requirement to reduce the impact of its activities on climate, the Group conducts many other actions presented at this conference.
To address this major global challenge, the Group operates by both reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and developing innovative solutions to use environmentally sound products.
In terms of reducing emissions, Arkema cooperates on optimizing energy consumption, investing in high performance energy appliances, and controlling plant and equipment in its production units. In addition it strives to reduce emissions of acidifying substances impacting CO2 reservoirs (forests, oceans). The Group is also developing the use of raw materials of bio-sourced origin.
Furthermore, Arkema’s innovation focuses its research on advancing energy transition, such as solutions for new energies (solar, photovoltaic), lightweight materials, or the development of fluorogases with a low environmental impact to replace existing ones.
