Arkema 3 Mini 6.50 track record

Skippered by Quentin Vlamynck, the Arkema 3 Mini 6.50 prototype has made its debut in 2017 in the competition world. A small boat with big aspirations!

Mini Transat La Boulangère

On Thursday 16 November at 11:23 am (French time), Quentin Vlamynck crossed the finish line of the second leg of the Mini Transat la Boulangère race in Le Marin (Martinique). After sailing from La Rochelle (France) and stopping over in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, he secured 6th place in the overall ranking with a total of 25 days, 9 hours, 14 minutes and 30 seconds at sea. Many congratulations to Quentin for this great performance!

Not completing the course was not an option for me, I wanted to prove that this innovative prototype built from recyclable materials could sail across the Atlantic. I put in a lot of effort to get there and took good care of the boat during the race. This result rewards the relentless work initiated two years ago, after the arrival of the Mini Transat 2015.

Mini en Mai

The Arkema 3 Mini 6.50 finished in 4th place in the overall ranking in the Mini en Mai.

This start of the season is what I was expecting, even if a 4th place in the Mini en Mai is not easy psychologically! The conditions were not favorable to me at the end of the race. I’m happy with the way I handled the boat and to have got back into the solo sailing routine.

Pornichet Select

On 24 April, Quentin Vlamynck crossed the finish line in 2nd position of the Pornichet Select, after a 40 hour 8 minute race. Enjoying excellent conditions over the course’s 300 nautical miles, the skipper made the most of his innovative machine and demonstrated the potential of his boat to the 24 other prototypes participating in the race.

The race went very well. Competing against others is the best way to fine-tune the boat’s settings. It will keep my mind focused for the next races.

Lorient Bretagne Sud Mini

At 4 pm on 9 April Quentin Vlamynck and Lalou Roucayrol crossed the finish line of the Lorient Bretagne Sud Mini race in 15th position. This was a double-handed race in which the Mini 6.50 Arkema 3 went head-to-head with the competition for the first time.

Despite light and erratic winds, our two skippers were very happy to have covered the 150-mile course together, and completed the race with a smile.
