Enabling unique thermal stability, while saving operational costs
The stability of PMMA during extrusion is temperature dependent, with PMMA “unzipping” and degrading at increased rates at higher temperatures. As these temperatures are often necessary for manufacturing processes, TippoxTM 2028 works to significantly reduce PMMA degradation, balancing thermal stability and thermo-mechanical properties.
Added at either the polymerization or processing stage, TippoxTM 2028 further improves stabilization in PMMA utilizing acrylates and traditional primary antioxidants, while enabling higher processing temperature, higher throughput, less defects and less VOCs.
PMMA degradation generates residual monomer causing visual defects, such as bubbles, in the final extruded/molded parts. This results in a lower yield of acceptable parts throughput, more defects and higher VOCs emissions.
TippoxTM 2028 offers a new approach to the traditionally utilized methods to handle degradation, such as copolymerization and the use of stabilizers.
