Polyurethane systems

Why using a Siliporite® molecular sieves?

  • Water, even in traces, readily reacts with the isocyanate groups to form CO2
  • Moisture is present on the substrates in contact with the PU system, or brought into the system by the polyol and the additives (such as pigments, fillers, etc.)
  • Molecular sieves are the most powerful moisture scavengers there are: they adsorb water at very low concentrations.

Main applications

  • Flooring
  • Adhesives and sealants
  • Industrial coatings
  • Pipe and tank coating
  • Electrical parts (embedded components).

Benefits of using Siliporite® molecular sieves

  • No foaming or bubbling therefore enhance surface finish and hardness
  • Extend shelf and pot life.

Why use Siliporite® range?

  • Easy to incorporate
  • High water adsorption capacity
  • Consistent viscosity
  • Consistent pot life
  • No color imparted to the system
  • Free of agglomerates.

Metallic coatings for marine and anti-corrosion applications

Why use Siliporite® molecular sieves?

  • Paints containing metallic compounds such as zinc, tin or copper for bacteriostatic purposes require a water-free formulation
  • Water, even in traces, readily reacts with these metals to form hydrogen gas
  • Siliporite® molecular sieve should be added to the formulation in order to ensure its stability during storage.

Benefits of using Siliporite® molecular sieves

  • Eliminate hydrogen gas formation
  • Extend shelf and pot life
  • Eliminate the risk of container bulging and bursting.

Siliporite® activated powders

  • The Siliporite® NK30 AP molecular sieve should be used when gassing and bubbling elimination is important
  • The Siliporite® SA 1720 molecular sieve has been specially developed for PU systems in order to increase the gel time and allow a better storage and an optimized use
  • The Siliporite® NK10 AP molecular sieve is the most effective scavenger when pot life and gassing are not the main issues.
