Junior buyer

Junior buyers identify the best suppliers and negotiate terms and conditions while fostering genuine partnerships to ensure optimum service.

On-site or at headquarters, junior buyers work across departments on behalf of all entities interested in the category of purchases for which they are responsible.

Main duties

  • Recommend the procurement strategy for their area and then implement it.
  • Manage multi-site supplier contracts for their category of products.
  • Coordinate business and technical relations with suppliers under contract.
  • Use the network of procurement officers, specifiers and technologists for their purchasing assignments.

Required skills

Thoroughness, attentiveness, negotiating skills, inquisitiveness, international outlook and people skills.

Fluent English is required.

Education and experience

Engineering or business school degree with a specialization in procurement. A minimum of two to three years’ prior experience in the industry would be a strong asset.
