Arkema has an active participation in the actions of the MMAtwo consortium
A four-year European project, MMAtwo, which comprises 13 partners from six different countries representing all stages of the PMMA value chain, aims to develop a new and innovative process to recycle post-industrial and end-of-life PMMA waste into second generation MMA (methyl methacrylate) monomer.
Since the project’s launch, a large number of actions have been initiated. Among them, the visit of a car disassembly center that, in line with the project, will focus on the recycling of taillights and other parts of end-of-life vehicles, was organized to enable the MMAtwo partners to better understand the supply of products required for the project. Extensive exchanges between members of the Advisory Committee also took place to structure and advance this initiative.
A partner in this European project, Arkema, in the person of Jean-Luc Dubois, Scientific Director, chairs the Advisory Committee, which includes scientific experts from the PMMA industry, end-users of recycled MMA, and academia.
The role of this committee is to advise the Steering Committee on the project’s strategic issues.
A website dedicated to this project has also been set up to follow its evolution.
The project, which receives funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, is an ambitious one in terms of industrial recycling of PMMA polymer, and puts European players at the forefront of recycling technologies.
