Arkema, a global leader in Specialty Materials, will showcase its unique portfolio of solutions and innovations for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and energy storage systems (BESS) at the upcoming US Battery Show 2026 in Detroit, Michigan (US), October 12-15, Booth # 2714.
EV batteries need range, safety and compact design, while stationary storage demands low cost, long life and large-scale reliability. Arkema will present solutions specifically designed for both markets, including materials for use both inside and outside the cell.
Meet our team at the Booth #2714
While ESS production has increased significantly in the past year, we continue to see healthy demand across all segments of the battery market. We are actively looking at the needs of all battery segments to offer solutions that meet both existing and emerging technology needs.”
EV Batteries – Material Solutions to improve range, safety and compact design
Arkema is working closely with battery manufacturers to improve upon both existing and new materials for use in EV battery applications. Efforts include solutions that significantly increase energy density, including recently introduced Incellion® branded acrylic binders designed for silicon-based anodes, and Kynar® PVDF products used as a cathode binder and separator coating in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. These solutions are designed to support higher active-material loading and the development of higher-energy-density battery cells.
The group also provides a wide range of materials that improve thermal management and other safety-related needs outside the battery pack, including Rilsan® Polyamide 11, Reafree® coating resins, Zenimid® Polyimide, Rilsamid® Polyamide 12, Sartomer® UV-curable materials, Bostik adhesives and other materials.
ESS Batteries – Solutions to improve value, lifecycle and scalability
ESS battery applications require a different balance of cost, safety and scalability. Arkema is working with manufacturers to offer unique solutions across those products. The group offers both Kynar® PVDF and Incellion® binders for use in LFP systems, the primary chemistry in stationary energy storage.
Additionally, the group introduced new Incellion® binders for primer coatings and ceramic-based separator layers that complement existing Kynar® Flex PVDF coating products already in use.
To address the industrialization of new battery technologies, Arkema recently introduced advanced research and production capabilities notably with the successfully completion of a 15% PVDF capacity expansion at its Calvert City, Kentucky plant in June 2026.
Battery Circularity and Recycling
Arkema supports battery circularity through products such as Albone® hydrogen peroxide, a high-purity solution that is critical to hydrometallurgical recycling to recover metals such as lithium, cobalt and nickel from end-of-life batteries. Arkema also offers Bostik silicone free thermal gap fillers to support cleaner disassembly processes during the recycling process.
