Our commitment to safety and the environment

  • Process safety, capacity and engineering.
  • Mechanical integrity projects and programs designed to improve the infrastructure.
  • Personnel training and development.
  • Tanker loading improvements.
  • Any liquid (including rain water) that is generated at our facility is collected, tested and sent to the LA Sanitation County Industrial Wastewater facility for treatment.
  • Tank vents from all reactor trains and monomer storage tanks are sent to a permitted incinerator/vent treatment system to minimize/eliminate vapor emissions. Mechanical piping joints are periodically fugitive emissions tested for integrity and AQMD compliance rules.
  • To reduce waste generation, off-grade latex is sold to other companies for use in industrial applications.

  • Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPA) - Our site participates in local emergency planning meetings and complies with all notification and reporting obligations
  • City of Torrance Emergency Response System - The Torrance plant, along with other chemical companies, pay permit fees to ensure local emergency responders have the equipment needs to respond to emergencies
  • Torrance Chamber of Commerce - Member
  • Supported fundraising efforts for The Children’s Clinic of Long Beach
  • Supported local Toys for Tots Program
  • The plant supports the local community through donations and participation in community programs such as Arkema’s Science Teachers Program, and fundraisers for various causes like St. Jude’s Children's Hospital
  • Emergency Response Drill with participation from local authorities and emergency responders.
