Oxygenated solvents

Mesityl oxide (MO) is a α-unsaturated ketone. It is mainly used in fine chemistry in the synthesis of vitamins, flavour and fragrances. It is also an intermediate in the synthesis of MIBK, MIBC and DIBK. MO can be a used as a solvent in inks, coating or agrochemicals.

MIBC (Methylisobutylcarbinol) is a colorless liquid C6 branched alcohol. It is used in the synthesis of lub oil addtives (ZDDP) for anti-wear and anti-corrosion. It is also commonly used as a large range flotation frother in copper (polymetallic) and coal minings. MIBC can also be used in coatings or fine chemistry.

Arkema diacetone alcohol or DAA is an oxygenated solvent derived from acetone which has two alcohol and ketone functions. It has a high purity. It is colourless and odourless and has a low evaporation rate.

Hexylene Glycol or HG is an oxygenated solvent derived from acetone which has two alcohol functions. It has a low evaporation rate and it is completely miscible with water. It is mainly used as a solvent or coupling agent. It is a potential substitute for glycol ethers. It is also an effective shrinkage reduction admixture or SRA for concrete and mortar. Hexylene glycol can also be used as a building block in chemical synthesis.
