Arkema’s headquarters
Located in La Défense, in the Hauts-de-Seine département (92), Arkema's new head office is home to over 1,200 people. It groups together the Group's functional divisions and most of its business segments.
In March 2025, Arkema moved into Lightwell, a building in the heart of La Défense, which has undergone a complete renovation to offer incomparable working conditions. Located in Europe's largest business district, Lightwell symbolizes a new stage in the Group's transformation and ambition.
An exemplary head office for the Group
A building with a minimal environmental footprint
To limit its environmental footprint, the choice was made to use an existing building rather than a new one. Lightwell's interior was completely renovated, but two-thirds of the existing structure was retained.
Energy efficiency was taken into account from the outset: 100% of the electricity supply is green, with a 50% saving in primary energy consumption compared with the building before the work. Designed to anticipate the energy standards of 2050, Lightwell is 100% wind-powered and is aiming for HQE Exceptional and BREEAM Excellent certifications, thus affirming its commitment to the environment and its ambition to offer a high-quality, sustainable working environment.
A transformation of working habits
The development of telecommuting has transformed the way we work, and this is reflected in our new headquarters. Collaborative working, open team quarters, modularity, fluidity and attractiveness are the key words guiding the layout of our premises.
This is embodied in open-plan workspaces designed to respect everyone's well-being. To this can be added the move to flex office. Employees can work in different ways according to their needs: close to their team to collaborate, or isolated to better concentrate. With a flex ratio 0.8 (i.e. 8 offices for every 10 employees, excluding meeting rooms), Arkema is clearly one of the most welcoming and comfortable companies to work for.
Public spaces for well-being
In addition to its welcoming workspaces, the head office's most striking architectural feature is an immense atrium, a veritable shaft of light that houses the main staircase. A real place of life and interaction, the atrium is overlooked by café areas and adjoined by numerous meeting rooms.
The spacious, multi-purpose Campus area, with a total surface area of almost 1,500 m2, has several zones that can be adapted to suit different needs and times of day: a training area, a games room, a rest and relaxation area, a conference room, a seminar room, as well as a coworking area, all with access to the building's 370 m2 rooftop. And for sports enthusiasts, there's an outdoor fitness area
A completely redesigned showroom
The move of our headquarters to Lightwell was an opportunity to completely rethink the Group's showroom: with "the Lab", Arkema has reinvented this place dedicated to its innovations to offer a new, immersive, interactive and evolving digital experience.
This "innovation hub", accessible in French, English and Chinese, is designed to provide an educational introduction to the Group's materials and expertise, and their contribution to a wide range of everyday applications.
A place of choice for Arkema products
Finally, throughout the building, from furniture to paint, coatings and adhesives, our materials, coatings and adhesive solutions were widely used. The headquarters is a true showcase for the performance and durability of the Group's specialty materials.
For example, a patented SYNAQUA® resin-based eco-friendly paint covers almost all interior walls. Certified solvent-free and composed of 97% biobased molecules, it drastically reduces the coating's carbon footprint, while offering optimum performance. Ideal Work premium coverings, a Group subsidiary, take the form of exclusive, personalized creations, in a contemporary, elegant design.
In terms of furniture, the atrium is home to the iconic Maison Gatti chairs and tables, made from Arkema's Rilsan® material. This 100% French know-how, a symbol of Parisian art de vivre, brings a timeless, artisanal touch to the headquarters' reception area, where tradition and innovation meet.
