The Walden Raft cabin is returning to center stage. A replica of the work constructed in 2015 by artist duo, Elise Morin and Florent Albinet, will soon be on exhibit for the public as part of a festival in Annecy. This is the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover this installation featuring our Altuglas® acrylic glass.

If you missed Walden Raft when it was unveiled in 2015 on the Gayme Lake (Puy-de-Dôme – France) during Horizons Arts-Nature, now is your chance! From July 6 to September 15, a new cabin paying tribute to poet and naturalist, Henry David Thoreau, will be on public display.

The work of the two French artists, Elise Morin and Florent Albinet, was selected to join the 39 installations exhibited as part of the Annecy Paysages 2019 festival. Its minimalist lines and its airy esthetic, somewhere between opaque and transparent, will be able to be admired on Lake Annecy, in front of the Imperial Palace hotel. Altuglas® acrylic glass was chosen due to its unrivaled transparency, making the structure of the cabin totally disappear. It was also selected as it meets safety requirements and for practical reasons as a substitute for glass.

This is the second edition of this festival directed by Salvador Garcia, aiming to highlight landscaped areas in the urban environment. In addition to the forty contemporary installations set up throughout Annecy, five exhibitions are also planned. A walk called “La Grande Balade” ["The Great Stroll"] will allow art lovers to discover the festival in its entirety during the opening evening on July 6.
