Arkema is committed through its innovation to running its activities responsibly in terms of safety and environment, and to fostering a dialog with its stakeholders in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Adopted in September 2015 by 193 United Nations countries, the UN’s sustainable development program is intended to meet the major economic, social and environmental challenges of our planet by 2030. This agenda comprises 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) making up a universal roadmap for governments, civil society and the private sector with the aim of eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all.

When the SDGs came into force in 2016, Arkema quite naturally established a link between its six innovation platforms – biosourced products, renewable energies, water management, solutions for electronics, lightweighting / design of materials, home performance / insulation – and six of these 17 SDGs.

In 2017, with a view to taking its engagement process a step further around social, environmental and economic issues, Arkema carried on the identification of the SDGs linked to each of the five vectors of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative - innovation, but also safety, environment, social development, and dialog with its stakeholders -, while also drawing up a further three actual contributions to the SDGs. This mapping helps better evaluate the Group’s societal contributions and expand their remit, in terms of a sustainable product and solution offering, as well as in its engagement as a responsible chemicals manufacturer and in its social contribution across its value chain.

Arkema’s CSR policy is based on solid foundations and is part of a commitment to sustainable growth, not only for the Group, but also for all players within its value chain.
