Arkema in Brazil
Arkema, a global manufacturer in specialty materials, is present in Brazil with 400 employees, 5 production sites, 3 laboratories, 11 distribution centers and 3 commercial subsidiaries. The Group's main customers in the country operate in the construction, plastic industry, coatings, paints, refrigeration, packaging, oil, gas, automotive and transportation sectors. These high potential areas are steadily growing in the world's ninth largest economic power.
Arkema was established following the spin-off of Total SA’s chemical branch, formerly Elf Atochem. In 2006, the Group listed on the Paris stock market.
Arkema finalized the acquisition of Coatex in 2007 and, in 2012, the purchase of the Araçariguama (São Paulo region) plant, specializing in emulsions and additives.
In 2015, Bostik, the world leader in glue and adhesive technologies, joined the Group to improve its product offering. The plant in Brazil is located in São Roque, 10 minutes from the Coatex plant and Coating Resins.
In 2019, Arkema announced the purchase of ArrMaz, a worldwide manufacturer of special surfactants, which has locations in Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. In addition, Arkema Brasil headquarters is in São Paulo with 70 employees. The Bostik Supply Chain team share this space with them. It also has an office in Rio de Janeiro and Bahia.
Sustainable and innovative solutions, responsible management of industrial activities, open dialogue with stakeholders, contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)... all these elements are part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy promoted by the Group, nourished by the ambition to be among the best.
Our teams in Brazil obviously participate in the implementation of this strategy at the local level.
