Arkema in Korea

A global manufacturer of specialty chemicals and advanced materials, Arkema holds world leading positions in 90% of its business portfolio. The Group is consolidating its presence in key growth regions, including Asia. Arkema Korea Ltd has three plants, and sales amount to US $200 million. In order to support innovation with its Korean customers, the Group opened an R&D and technical center in the prestigious HanYang University.

Arkema Jinhae plant

Arkema Jinhae, through its subsidiary Altuglas Inc., has a 45 KT production capacity of PMMA (Poly Methyl Methacrylate), otherwise known as Acrylic Glass. PMMA is widely used in construction, automotive, electronics, cosmetics and other consumer goods. Arkema Jinhae sells 40% of its capacity in Korea and 60% in neighboring Asian countries.

 

Arkema Jinhae has 20 employees. The plant is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 certified.

Seki Arkema Chilseo plant

Seki Arkema is a joint venture between Arkema and private Korean shareholders. The Chilseo plant has a production capacity of approximately 5 KT of organic peroxides, mainly sold in Korea as polymerization initiators for the petrochemical, paint and polymer industry.

 

Seki Arkema Chilseo has 37 employees. The plant is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001 certified.

Coatex Gunsan plant

Coatex, an Arkema subsidiary, is a worldwide leader in dispersants, thickeners and rheology modifiers for paper manufacture, mineral processing, water treatment, paint manufacture, construction and cosmetics.

 

Coatex Gunsan has 3 employees.

Arkema's innovation center in HanYang University

In 2016, to support Arkema's growth in Asia, the Group opened an innovation center on the campus of the prestigious HanYang University (Seoul). The new laboratory embodies a yearslong partnership between Arkema and the university. It will focus on research into high-performance polymers and renewable energies, two fields in which Hanyang University excels.

Arkema Korea Ltd, based in Seoul, manages and markets the entire Arkema product portfolio with its 35-strong staff.
