Description

The ultimate coating designed for durability

Rilsan® Fine Powders are unique thermoplastic Polyamide 11 powders, developed for metal coating more than 40 years ago.

Rilsan Polyamide 11 is produced from a renewable natural raw material, the Ricinus Communis (Castor Oil) plant, which grows in tropical regions.

Rilsan® coating is a proven surface protection given its excellent chemical and mechanical properties. It can also be used as an additive in paints, as well as in Laser Sintering process.

Properties

Rilsan® Fine Powders offer a unique combination of properties:

  • Very good chemical resistance
  • Excellent resistance to corrosion
  • Outstanding abrasion resistance
  • Good impact resistance
  • High resistance to cavitation erosion
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Aesthetic surface finish,  warm-to-the-touch
  • Compatibility with food products (see list of certified grades)
  • Good hygienic properties

Markets and applications

The Rilsan® brand has become the global benchmark in several industries looking for the ultimate metal protection: in the automotive industry, for spline shafts, sliding door, seat rails, and springs coating, in the fluids industry, for pipes, fittings, pumps, valves coating. Other major applications include coating of dishwasher baskets, printing rollers, small parts like clips and adjustors for the textile industry, clips, springs, hinges for the building industry.

Beside coating applications, Rilsan® Fine Powders are used as texturing additives in coil coatings and paints.

Rilsan® Fine Powders are available in many particle sizes and formulations, in a large variety of colors by both dry blend or mass coloration allowing stable finish and superior UV stability.

To complement Rilsan® Fine Powders, a range of low VOC and solvent based primers named Primgreen® and Rilprim® are available. They are applied on the prepared metal surface to improve the adhesion of Rilsan Fine Powders to the substrate and the corrosion resistance.
