Description

Lotader® terpolymers offer excellent adhesion on many supports, and are compatible with a large number of polymers. They are used in a vast number of applications, such as coextrusion binders or tie layers in multilayer structures for the packaging industry, pipeline coatings, cables and hot melt adhesives. Lotader® is used also as an impact modifier for the engineering of polymers such as polyamides and polyesters for the electronic and automotive sectors.

 

Properties

  • Excellent adhesion to many polymers (polyethylene, polystyrene, polypropylene and OPP) and metals
  • Compatibility with various thermoplastics such as polyamides, polyesters, PC alloys and polyethylenes
  • Easy to process
  • Excellent thermal stability during processing
  • Transparency

 

Markets and applications

  • Impact Modifiers for Engineering Plastics such as polyamides (PA), thermoplastic polyesters (PET, PBT) and polycarbonate (PC) alloys
  • Compatibilizing and Coupling Agents for blends of polymers with fillers (glass fibers etc.), and for Plastic Recycling (PET and polyethylene)
  • Tie layer for co-extruded films and sheets for the packaging market
  • Halogen Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) compounds for cable manufacturing
  • Pipeline coatings
  • Thermo-adhesive films for automotive interiors

Chemical composition: In the Functional Polyolefins range, Lotader® resins are Ethylene-Acrylate terpolymers: Ethylene-Acrylic esters-Maleic Anhydride (MAH) or Glycidyl Methacrylate (GMA) terpolymers.
