Thermolite® Heat Stabilizers

Description

Thermolite® organotin stabilizers are based on a composition of mono and di alkyl tin (2-Ethyl Hexyl Mercapto Acetate) systems, where alkyl is a methyl, butyl or octyl.
Tin mercaptides stabilizers are designed for rigid and transparent PVC applications, especially for food and pharmaceutical contact. They have been used for these applications for many years and have proved to be safe and highly efficient.

Properties

PVC is a polymer very well known for its intrinsic poor thermal stability: HCl formation, color development, autooxidation, etc...

Thermolite® organotin stabilizers bring outstanding performances in the thermal stabilization of PVC :

  • Hydrochloric acid scavenger
  • Labile chlorine substitution
  • Antioxidant
  • Addition of mercaptan on polyenes to disrupt color

Markets and applications

Tin stabilizers can be used in all applications where PVC requires a high level of transparency and thermal stability. The main applications are calendered or extruded films and sheets, blown bottles, pipes, etc...
