Properties
Catalyst S-21® and Catalyst S-24 are pre-formed antimony-based catalysts used by polyethylene terephtalate (PET) manufacturers for polycondensation reactions. They provide the following advantages over traditional catalysts:

Rapid dissolution minimizes preparation time and provides uniform concentration

Improved control of polycondensation reaction increases throughput and decreases thermal degradation

Higher purity improves PET color and extends filter life

Solid crystalline form eliminates dusting

Pre-packaged containers are convenient and easy to handle
Catalyst S-23 is also used as a polycondensation catalyst in the manufacture of PET and its copolyesters. This product boasts high purity and low trace-metal content and is offered in a non-dusting form. S-23 is available in the dry form or wetted with monoethylene glycol.
Arkema is also introducing a new catalyst S-28® that offers increased productivity and improved performance benefits over conventional antimony catalysts.
