Arkema is facing strong increases in raw material, energy and transportation costs. As a result, a price increase of 11 % will be implemented on its Forane® R22 in Europe effective January 1st 2008.
Forane® R22 is an HCFC(1) refrigerant regulated by the European Directive 2037/2000 that bans its emissive use in Europe starting January 1rst 2010. In replacement of Forane® R22, Arkema offers a large range of new generation HFC(2) refrigerants and among them an retrofit fluid the Forane® R427A based on HFCs for existing HCFC installations.
Arkema is the world’s second largest fluorochemicals producer, and currently operates four industrial facilities on three continents: Pierre-Bénite in France, Zaramillo in Spain, Changshu in China, and Calvert City in the United States. The products manufactured in these four plants are sold under the Forane® trademark to the refrigeration and air-conditioning (construction and automobile), insulating foam, solvent, and aerosol industries.
