Arkema is increasing the price of its Tertiary Dodecyl Mercaptan (TDM) by 20%. This price increase, which is being implemented since October 5th 2004 on a worldwide basis, is required to partially compensate for the rapid escalation of raw materials, energy and transportation costs.
Arkema must now recover a portion of this increase in costs to assure the long-term supply and quality service expected by its customers.
Arkema's TDM are used in particular as:
- chain transfer agent to control polymerization of Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR), SB latex, ABS, polystyrene and other emulsion polymers,
- and as intermediates for lubricants.
As the world leader in sulfur chemistry, Arkema offers a comprehensive array of products, worldwide production sites, extensive R&D and technical support to meet its customers needs.
With EUR 5 billion in sales worldwide, 90 industrial sites in more than 40 countries, and 6 research and development centers, Arkema (formerly Atofina) consists of three balanced business segments: Vinyl Products, Industrial Chemicals, and Performance Products. With its internationally recognized brands, Arkema holds leadership positions in its principal markets.
