Description

The molecule, with its 7 aligned carbon atoms, was appreciated early on for the olfactory qualities of certain of derivatives. In its natural state it was discovered in wine by oenologists who called it Oenanthol.
Other, more technical qualities were discovered later, including its lubricant properties and low freezing point.

With its good corrosion properties and unique performance level at both high and low temperatures, is used primarily in lubricants refrigeratiry oils etc. It finds also interesting applications in the form of esters in the flavors and fragrances industry, and in cosmetics.
