Description
The molecule, with its 7 aligned carbon atoms, was appreciated early on for the olfactory qualities of certain of derivatives. In its natural state it was discovered in wine by oenologists who called it Oenanthol.
Other, more technical qualities were discovered later, including its lubricant properties and low freezing point.
The aldehyde, alcohol and acid are the 3 main products of the C7 range.
