Arkema’s BlocBuilder® product range includes two types of controlled radical polymerization regulators: an alkoxyamine regulator trademarked as BlocBuilder® MA (Arkema’s property) and a RAFT (Reversible Addition Fragmentation Transfer) regulator known as BlocBuilder® DB (under license). These regulators are well known for the development of new tailor-made acrylic based (block) copolymers finding use in a variety of applications such as coatings, adhesives, and additives. Arkema also markets commercially available (block) copolymers produced using this technology under the Nanostrength® trade name. BlocBuilder® technology allows the design of novel materials spanning rich architectures, varied compositions and tailored end-use properties, which were not, up to now, readily attainable by conventional radical polymerization techniques.

Allow tailoring of polymer architectures to meet demanding application properties
Are compatible with standard industrial reactors and processes
Are Compatible with a wide variety of (substituted) vinyl monomers and solvents
Can be utilized in homogeneous or dispersed polymerization media
