Description
Organic Peroxides are used in many specialty applications.
These include pharmaceutical and PVC short-stopper.
Pharmaceutical : Benzoyl peroxides are used in acne cream.
Luperstop® shortstopper :
The majority of the PVC processes are suspension polymerization in batch wise operation. The difficulty is to maintain the resin quality during the reaction, because of its chemical sensibility to energetic radicals. It is well known that in increasing conversions after pressure drop, PVC quality diminishes. For this reason, it is common industry practice to use shortstopper to terminate reaction.
Arkema has launched an innovation in the manufacture of suspension Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), with the marketing of a new polymerization stopper, Luperstop®. Based on the nitroxides patented technology, Luperstop® is a new trademark registered by Arkema around the world. Among available shortstoppers, Lupertsop® is a very effective one. It is a non-dangerous material that can be shipped with organic peroxide at –10C°.
An anti-freezing option is available.
Among all advantages, we can mention that :
-
Luperstop® is a stable radical, soluble in water
-
It is an aqueous solution (solvent free) that can be easily pumped, diluted in water or alcohols, but does not require solvent dilution (assay of 10%)
-
It is a non-dangerous product that can be shipped by road, air and boat without restriction
