Description Biostrength® additives include impact modifiers such as Biostrength® 280 and Biostrength® 150 respectively targeted for transparent and opaque applications of Polylactic Acid (PLA) biopolymer and Biostrength® 700, a melt strength improver/ rheology modifier. Additionally, the newest member of the product line is Biostrength® 900, a metal release agent especially effective in calendaring and injection molding applications Properties Biostrength® impact modifiers are very efficient, allowing PLA to meet the technical requirements imposed by the market, like high impact performance at room and low temperatures. Biostrength® 700 will support in-process recycling by minimizing the need for PLA drying to ensure property retention and allow high quality food approved thermoformed transparent packaging. Additionally, in foam applications it contributes to low foam density with exceptional extrusion behaviour. Biostrength® 900 is effective in minimizing sticking during demanding calendaring and injection molding processes. Markets and applications Biostrength® modifiers support PLA in a wide variety of applications such as packaging film, bottle blow molding, injection molded parts for automotive or electronics, sheet extrusion for card stock, foam extrusion for packaging applications, textile extrusion, and paper coating applications.
