Plastics & Polymers Market

Few companies can offer the variety of products to the plastics industry that we can. We make a product for every step of the process. Start with our organic peroxides. That's what resin manufacturers use to initiate the process that turns a monomer into a polymer.

Initiators like the Luperox®Organic Peroxides  line aid the manufacture of thermoplastic and thermoset resins, which are used mainly for a wide variety of products. The Luperox®Organic Peroxides  line of products is essential to produce such plastics as PVC, PS, LDPE, PS, PMMA, UPR, etc. The chemical reactions that convert vinyl chloride to PVC for plastic pipe and vinyl house siding or ethylene to polyethylene for plastic bags, have one thing in common: an organic peroxide was used to initiate the polymerization reaction to form the plastic resin. Arkema's organic peroxides improve productivity, lower costs and optimize quality.

Many kinds of hollow vessels, end-pieces and connections, tubes and bags use Nakan® PVC.

Arkema offers many polymers for use as additives in other polymers, including Kynar Flex® Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) for use as a process aid, and Lotader® Resin and Lotryl® Resin for use as impact modifiers for engineering plastics. In addition, Orevac® Resin and Lotader® Resin can be used as coupling agents.

The reactive nature of our Noroscryl® Acrylic Monomers allows them to be used in a wide variety of polymer products for the household, recreational, and industrial sectors. Some examples include: flocculants for water treatment, detergents, paints, toners and inks, glues and adhesives, non-woven acrylic fibers, acrylic impact modifiers, processing aides, and acrylic sheet.

Sartomer manufactures and markets a number of acrylate and methacrylate monomers and oligomers designed for polymer modification which enhance the properties of many commercial plastics as well as plastic prototyping.
These products can be used to improve compatibility, heat resistance, impact strength, flexibility, paintability/printability, and melt flow index.
These products are widely used in the rapid prototyping and stereolithography technologies for small devices production and prototyping.
Application examples include:

  • PMMA, Polycarbonate Sheet & Castings
  • PVC, PET, PP Films
  • PVC, PET, PP Labels
  • Thermoplastic Elastomer Vulcanizates
  • Prototyping
