Orgasol® Benefits in coatings and inks

Orgasol® strengthens and improves abrasion & scratch resistance of the coatings and inks. Orgasol® is also used to control gloss or to impart specific textured finishes.
High Abrasion & Scratch resistance:
Orgasol® polyamide powders, provide a powerful combination of abrasion and scratch resistance and an improvement in product durability.
Coating resistance to abrasion and scratches
Formulation: 100% solid UV curable
Gloss Control & Mar Resistance:
In most of formulations, Orgasol® powders provide matte-to-satin effects, without the drawbacks of increased in viscosity and a higher sensitivity to scratches and abrasion common to matting agents like silica. It also avoids haze, settlement and guaranties mar resistance.
Texturing effects:
Orgasol® powders can also be used as texturing agent. Available in a range of particle sizes (from 5 to 60 microns), Orgasol® powders can impart textures from smooth to rough by modifying the ratio of particle size to coating thickness. Thus, the spherical shape of the particles and the very narrow particle size distribution of Orgasol® powders impart very specific reguler textures combining pleasant hand touch as well as anti-slip properties.
Lubrication:
Adding Orgasol® powder decrease coating's coefficient of friction thanks to the lubricating effect of polyamide and the spherical shape of the particles. An advantage of Orgasol® is that it can be processed at high temperature - a great asset in rubber coating.
Influence of Orgasol® on friction coefficient depending on the coating thickness
Formulation: 2K polyurethane water based formulation
Flexibility:
Orgasol® thermoplastic additive used in a thermoset system can act as a toughening agent, increasing the flexibility of the coating and its resistance to crack propagation.
Low impact on viscosity:
Orgasol® powders bring improvement without bringing a negative effect on viscosity and, consequently, on process ability. This is especially important in 100% solid UV curable formulations.

Recoat ability:
Orgasol® can be used in multiple layers coating, such as in flooring.
