Lotryl® Key Points
|
Structural Properties:
The statistic introduction of acrylic esters into the polyethylene chains modifies the basic characteristics.
Crystallinity: The Lotryl® range goes from semi-crystallinity products (grades with less than 10% of comonomer) to completely amorphous elastomers (grades with more than 30%).
There is no crystallinity difference between EMA and EBA copolymers. Above 20% of comonomer content, EMA copolymers are less crystalline than their equivalents.
Polarity: Increasing with the comonomer content, EMA’s polarity is higher than EBA’s one. These characteristics are important when Lotryl® are formulated with low molecular weight products such as in bitumen or hot melt formulations.
Processing Properties
Lotryl® grades have lower viscosities than soft metallocene copolymers in the shear rate range of extrusion and allowed better productivity.
Nevertheless at very low shear rates, 24 MA 005 and 16 MA 03 gets highly viscous and their melt strength is adapted to large width, thick blown film extrusion and blow moulding.
