Lotryl® Applications: Films

Gloves:

Advantages of the Lotryl:

  • No residual powder on surfaces
  • No plasticizers in the polymer
  • Dimensions requirement easier to reach: Thickness, length
  • No allergy
  • Lower price comparatively to the deeping process
  • Obtention: A good drape and touch like fabrics

Flexible film with a good touch
Sealability
Elastic Properties for the high acrylate ratio
Extrudability

Compatibility:
With all kind of PE, PP, …

  • Optimisation of the ratio properties / cost

Lotryl® gloves range: 18 MA 02   20 MA 08

Soft Touch Films

Usually used in cosmetic packaging, soft touch technology has been adapted to food packaging with the Lotryl®  20 MA 08.

Easy to process, a blend of Lotryl®  20 MA 08 and PS is treated in layer by co-extrusion on a PS sheet.

Packaging Films

Lotryl® are used as tie layer or sealing layer in multilayered structures produced either by coextrusion in blown or cast, coextrusion coating or coextrusion-lamination.

  • Adhesive layer: Combining flexibility, polarity and good compatibility with many other polymers, Lotryl® can be used to bond uncompatible polyolefins together, polyolefins to styrenics, or polyolefins to different kinds of substrates like fabrics, wovens or non wovens, oriented PP films and papers.

Recommended grades are : Lotryl® 20 MA 0829 MA 03 and 17 BA 04.

  • Sealing layer:
Lotryl® are suitable as heat seal layer in films produced by coextrusion or lamination. Compared to LDPE, they provide low seal initiation temperature in Form-Fill-Seal processes. Lotryl® resins are also usable as thermo-lamination sealants for PS, PET or PVC rigid sheets.
    Recommanded grades are: Lotryl® 18 MA 0220 MA 08 and bestpeel 2407.

Lotryl® can be used to improve the sealability of LLDPE, HDPE, PP in film applications.
Recommanded grades are: Lotryl® 17 BA 04, 17 BA 07 and  20 MA 08

Stretch Hood

Lotryl® resins are perfectly suited for stretch hood films. Their flexibility enables to increase the stretch ratio of the film while keeping a good holding force.

They have good thermal stability and are therefore strongly recommended if the film must be processed at high temperatures or at very high speed.

Combined with LDPE, Lotryl®  18 MA 02 gave the best performances on monolayers films, but multilayer films should allows to obtain higher performance by using a highly flexible core layer using for instance Lotryl® 24 MA 005.

Breathable Films

Arkema has developed breathable polyamides and functional polyolefins technology.

Blending Pebax® copolyamides and Lotryl® functional polyolefins is a solution to provide films with :

  • Medium breathability
  • Easy processing at low temperature
  • Light weight
  • Good economics

Pebax® / Lotryl® blends for housewrap provide excellent quality:

  • Good processability at high speed extrusion
  • Soft touch
  • Medium breathability
  • Mechanical properties similar to functional polyolefins
  • Lotryl®  20 MA 08

Protection Films

Used in:

  • Swimming pool covers markets:
Lotryl® offers low density than PVC, heat and UV resistance
    Typical structure: Lotryl® 17 BA 04 / woven / Lotryl® 17 BA 04

  • Car Covers:
Lotryl® offers good temperature, UV resistance. Soft and sticks  to the car surface without any residues.
    Typical structure: Non-woven (PP or PE) coated with Lotryl®  20 MA 08 / 17 BA 04
