Lotryl® Applications: Bitumen Modification

Bitumen modified polymers are widely used in pavement construction and maintainance to reduce the « whole life cost » of the pavement on heavy trafic roads.

 

Among the polymer used in bitumen for road applications, EVA are well known owing to their compatibility with various bitumen and the mechanical properties improvement.

 

When the pavements must resist under extreme climate conditions, EVA copolymers have to be replaced by polymers with better mechanical properties at low temperatures (-20°C to – 40°C).

 

The best compromise between the required end use properties and the bitumen polymer compatibility is obtained with high comonomer EBA copolymers, like Lotryl® 35 BA 40

 

In addition, Evatane® and Lotryl® contributes to increase safety by optimising skid resistance and stopping distance. They also improve the level of comfort by reducing trafic noise.
These copolymers are also used to produce waterproof roofing membranes.
