Water Treatments and Detergents
|
Acrylic polymers intervene in water treatment as flocculants, chelating or dispersing agents.
Waste waters carry in suspension solid matter of widely differing natures, dimensions and densities. Colloidal particles settle out very slowly and require a flocculation treatment to agglomerate into bigger particles with sedimentation rate very considerably increased.
Norsocryl® Acid Acrylic (AA) and Norsocryl® cationic monomers (ADAMQUAT MC 80, ADAMQUAT BZ 80 and MADQUAT MC 75) are appropriate monomers to prepare flocculant polymers like anionic and cationic polyacrylamides.
Dispersing agents find applications in treatment of cooling and warning water systems. These low weigh homopolymers or copolymers can be manufactured with Norsocryl® Acrylic or Methacrylic Acids.
In the detergence field, copolymers including Acrylic or Methacrylic Acids serve as a substitute for polyphosphate, which are responsible of lakes and rivers eutrophisation. These copolymers complex calcium and magnesium ions and thus the washing efficiency is increased.
