Arkema Award – INP Pagora Engineering School

01/13/2012    Press Release

For the seventh consecutive year, Arkema has rewarded the author of the best graduation project in the field of paper fibers, bioresource valorization, and improvement of environmental balance of paper processes, among 3rd year student engineers from the International School of Paper, Print Media and Biomaterials (Grenoble INP-Pagora engineering school). Arkema’s participation in this event, as a major supplier of bleaching products to the paper industry, underlines its commitment to the paper industry and its ongoing backing for research.

The Arkema Award was presented to Romain Behagel by Mr Pierre Larnicol – Business Manager in Arkema’s Hydrogen Peroxide business unit, in the presence of Chantal Degrendèle – Director of Arkema’s Jarrie plant, for his original work entitled "Comment aider la mobilisation du bois ‘plus’ dans le quart Nord Est de la France". The project on assisting the mobilization of ‘plus’ wood in North-Eastern France, carried out within the Finnish paper group UPM, studies the means to be put in place to mobilize forest resources as part of the installation of a biofuel production plant using biomass on UPM’s Stracel site in Alsace.

The Arkema Award was presented at the graduation ceremony for engineers on November 25th 2011 in Grenoble, France, in the presence of many students, teachers, paper manufacturers, and the guest of honor for the evening, Patrick Jeambar, President of Ahlstrom Labelpack, a Member of the Board of Directors of Agefpi (Association de Gestion de l'Ecole Grenoble INP-Pagora) and Elected Member of the Grenoble Chamber of Commerce and Industry, of La Cellulose (Association of Former Students), COPACEL, and Agence de l'Eau.

The graduation ceremony closed with the inauguration of two commemorative plaques for the School’s Centenary Ceremony in 2007 as a token of thanks to the many sponsors, companies and individuals who hade made this ceremony possible through their donations.
