Arkema increases the prices of its phthalic anhydride and Garbeflex® DOP plasticizer

Arkema announces a €80/T increase in the price of its phthalic anhydride, while also increasing the price of its Garbeflex DOP® by €120/T, both effective April 1st 2010.

These increases have been made necessary by the surge in the cost of raw materials over the last two months, in particular propylene and orthoxylene.
 
Marketed under the tradename Garbeflex® DOP, this di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate plasticizer is used primarily in the manufacture of flexible PVC, which has wide-ranging applications from cable to floor covering to flexible film. It is also used in the production of medical articles such as blood bags.
