Arkema has reached an agreement to sell its aluminum chloride business

As part of the reorganization of its Vinyl Products segment, Arkema announces the planned divestment of its aluminum chloride business to Gulbrandsen Chemicals.


Following the announcement by Arkema in November 2008 of the shutdown of its aluminum chloride production at its Jarrie site (France) effective June 30, 2009, Arkema has reached an agreement to sell to Gulbrandsen Chemicals its European customer list, as well as its 100% shareholding in ARCIL, a dedicated affiliate based in India.


Aluminum chloride business generates about € 24 M of annual sales.


Gulbrandsen Chemicals is a U.S. based company with over 20 years experience in aluminum chloride production. It operates production plants in India and the United States.


Aluminum chloride is used primarily as a catalyst in pharmaceutical and chemical synthesis.
