Press Release
Arkema has demonstrated a clear reduction in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus strains (MRSA) on metal surfaces coated with Rilsan® Active.
Recent tests conducted by Arkema and the Swiss company Sanitized AG, in accordance with standard JIS Z 2801-2000, have shown that Rilsan® Active coatings help reduce bacterial population by over 99.99 % on MRSA strains, a type of bacteria that is particularly resistant to methicillin and other more common antibiotics such as oxacillin, penicillin and amoxicillin (MRSA infections occur most frequently among people in hospitals and healthcare facilities, and are responsible for a large number of hospital-acquired diseases).
Rilsan® Active contains an antimicrobial agent -Sanitized® Silver(1)- which limits the growth of micro-organism and thus helping to reduce the number of bacteria on the surface. (2).
Rilsan® Active coatings help protect hospital equipment and furniture in the long term from the most severe bacterial attacks. In addition to contributing to effective protection against bacterial growth, Rilsan® Active combines outstanding anticorrosion properties, excellent chemical inertness, good impact resistance, and, being easy to clean, is a hygienic coating.
Rilsan® Active is particularly suitable for hospital equipment as well as equipment used in public places generally (schools, sports clubs, catering establishments, etc.) increasingly exposed to bacterial growth and cross-contamination.
(1)Sanitized® is a trademark of the company SANITIZED Marketing AG.
(2)Rilsan® Active coatings do not dispense from usual hygiene rules and procedures, which should be strictly maintained and followed.
