Press Release
Mr. Clem McKown, global commercial development manager for Arkema was awarded the 2004 Yanzhao Friendship Award and a certificate of honor on September 28, 2004 at the annual awards ceremony hosted by the Hebei provincial government in Shijiazhuang, China.
Mr. McKown was nominated by the Qinhuangdao city for his technical contributions and collaborative work with Qinhuangdao Yaohua Glass Co., Ltd., which brought a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) low emissivity (low-E) glass system to the Chinese market.
The Qinhuangdao Yaohua CVD System is the world's first independent turn-key system for on-line manufacture of pyrolytic low-E glass, said McKown. It would never have been successfully completed without close cooperation between Qinhuangdao Yaohua and Arkema.
The Yaohua facility at Qinhuangdao is China's first domestic hard-coat low-E manufacturing line and is critical to meeting the Chinese market's demand for energy-efficient low-E glass.
The partnership between Qinhuangdao Yaohua and Arkema represents a great advancement,¿ commented Mr. Li Xi Ping, General Manager, Qinhuangdao Yaohua, not only for energy efficient glazing technologies in the Chinese market, but also for Sino-American relationships.
The coated products manufactured at the plant are used in a range of applications including building construction and appliances. The processes and equipment are state-of-the art technologies from Arkema that ensure safe, environmentally sound, and efficient production of low-E glass in China.
Arkema (formerly Atofina) is a leading supplier of proprietary glass coating technology, application systems and formulations and has, for over twenty-five years, provided innovations that improve the performance and properties of glass. Arkema has invested millions of dollars in the development of technologies for efficient energy utilization and in pyrolytic coating technology.
