The operation of our plants
|
The public still has little notion of how a chemical plant works on a day-to-day basis:
-
How does it operate?
-
What regulations and procedures are in place to ensure safety?
-
What activities and professions are involved?
-
How does it contribute to economic and social life?
One of the objectives of Common Ground® is to address all these questions through activities ranging from plant tours and public information meetings, to panel discussions and open days.
Plant visits
These plant tours offer visitors an opportunity to find out about manufacturing processes, risk - environmental safety - health management, and the products manufactured. They also allow participants and plant employees to come in direct contact. Questions and comments help us make new developments to the process.
Open days have been an unqualified success. Since 2002, some 50,000 people have visited our plants.
Exhibitions
The plants mount a variety of exhibitions on diverse topics related to the applications of Arkema's products. The Company also participates in trade shows and educational events all year round.
In the United States: Science Teachers Program
Every year, most of Arkema's US facilities invite elementary and high school teachers to take part in a hands-on approach to science. This allows them to acquire a better understanding of processes and products, in turn giving classroom chemistry teaching a more concrete dimension.
