A Key Market
Our products meet the requirements of a market facing major changes and challenges, among them cost reduction, market globalization, product line diversification, the design race, the expanded use of electronics, and safety, fuel economy, and vehicle life cycle management imperatives. Through our partnerships with automakers and automotive equipment manufacturers, we design and produce innovative solutions.
Complete Product Line
Arkema supplies products for the four main automotive functions :
Exterior parts, which must combine thermal performance and mechanical strength with real design flair
Interior parts, which must meet safety standards while offering broad appeal in terms of feel, appearance, and smell, thereby contributing to the comfort and enjoyment of passengers
Technical parts, whose primary goal is mechanical strength and the ability to withstand environmental stresses, such as high temperatures, fuel vapor and oily or corrosive substances
"Invisible" products that contribute directly or indirectly to vehicle solidity and durability, such as additives, gaskets, and anti-corrosion treatments, or to comfort, such as air conditioner refrigerant
Common Transportation Applications
Rilsan® Polyamide 11 & 12 resins are preferred for a great number of automotive fuel system applications.
Rilsan® polyamide 11 is the preferred material for pneumatic brake hoses and tubes for trucks and buses.
Rilperm® Multilayer fuel line technology offer excellent fuel barrier, physical properties, and economical efficiency.
Films and alloys made with Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) are used in car exteriors and moldings, for their ability to maintain their gloss and color for years and their resistance to bad weather and automotive fuel corrosion.
Lacovyl® PVC, Sunfrost® elastomer, Nakan® vinyl compounds, and Sunprene® elastomer are used to coat fabrics and instrument panels, interior fittings, gaskets, and fuel line coverings.
Forane® refrigerants are found in automotive air conditioning systems, both in passenger cars and refrigerated trucks.
Lotryl® and Lotader® are used in wiring and soundproofing.
Luperox® peroxides are found in automotive parts as hoses, belts, gaskets, o-rings and car body panels.
Platamid® delivers versatile and durable adhesion for automotive interior laminates.
