Pebax® thermoplastic elastomers consist of polyamide and polyether backbone blocks. These specialty elastomers offer very low material density, extremely efficient energy return (over a wide temperature range) and are optionally biobased. They are offered in a wide range of shore hardness values. Certain Pebax(R) grades are also inherently antistatic and hydrophilic in nature.
Over the years, Pebax® TPE has become known as one of the highest performance materials offered to the sports market. Biomechanical performance and durability of high-end sporting equipment like running shoes, cleats, and ski boots are just a few examples of where Pebax® TPE can Stretch the Limits of athletes. Key benefits to the sport market include: lightness, energy return, enduring elasticity, shock resistance, toughness, and flexibility.
The Pebax® TPE MED range offers a wide selection of rigid, semi-rigid, and flexible grades that are all plasticizer, BPA, and PVC-free. Common medical applications for Pebax® resins include catheters, PVC-free tubing, and breathable films for medical gowns and wound care.
Because the Pebax® TPE range is so versatile, it can be utilized in a wide array of applications. Some include breathable films (e.g. monolithic housewrap), active molecule carriers (e.g. air fresheners), antistatic additives (e.g. electronics packaging), coloration, welding and decoration, polyamide additives (e.g. cold impact modifier), and power transmission for its flex fatigue resistance.
Why choose Arkema's Specialty Polyamides
Vertical integration in all key monomers and feedstocks is a pillar of our global strategy.
As a world leader in biosourced specialty polyamides, Arkema has developed a leading position in castor oil feedstock and monomers. We are the world leader in sebacic acid derived from castor oil. We are also integrated in the production of castor oil itself.
We have significant production facilities and research centers in all three major regions- Asia, Europe and North America.
The largest offer in specialty polyamides
Arkema offers the broadest specialty polyamides portfolio. From soft thermoplastic elastomers to highly rigid polyarylamide compounds, we have the polyamide resin you need.
