Production – additives which boost production yields
Ceca, a subsidiary of the Arkema group, offers a complete range of additives: Prochinor®, Inipol® and Norust® which increase the production yields of oil and gas installations and guarantee the quality of production by:
- fighting corrosion in the installations
- limiting the presence of bacteria
- preventing the formation of moss and other deposits
Transportation: protecting the pipelines
The flexible pipes used for the transportation of oil and gas are under enormous strain. With Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) Rilsan® and Rilsan® Fine Powders biosourced polyamides, the Arkema group provides a wide range of solutions to protect them against corrosion, chemical attack and aging. These high performance polymers are also routinely used for coating pipes and flexible tubes in oil and gas installations. In these conditions, they are subjected to extreme pressure and fluid constraints.
Focus on... Rilsan® polyamide 11
Derived from castor oil, Rilsan® PA11 is a polymer of 100% renewable origin. It was the first biosourced plastic approved by the US authorities for high pressure natural gas lines.
Australian Gas Light (AGL) also decided to use Rilsan® PA11 for its underground pipeline project which has been designed to remain in operation for several hundred years.
Refining: odorless desulfurization
Sulfur levels in fuels are strictly regulated and authorized rates are constantly reduced in order to protect the environment. Desulfurization is the final step in the refining process. As the world’s leading producer of thiochemical products (sulphur chemistry), the Arkema group provides its know-how to the oil industry through the Carelflex® service and DMDS (dimethyl disulfide). This reagent activates the catalysts used in the desulfurization units of the refineries. Recently, and to specifically meet the needs of its customers, the Group upgraded DMDS to a pleasantly scented version, DMDS Evolution®, thereby reducing the unpleasant odors specific to this process.
