Successful launch of CECA’s Siliporite® molecular sieve bead production at its Inowroclaw plant, Poland
With an overall 30 % increase in its molecular sieve granulation capacity, shared between the Inowroclaw plant, Poland, and the Honfleur plant, France, CECA can now fulfill the strong growth of the double glazing market, in particular in Eastern Europe.
" By boosting its production resources dedicated to the double glazing market, CECA demonstrates its commitment to remaining a major player in the market. The location of our Polish facility is a real asset in terms of responsiveness and service to our customers in Eastern European countries " explains Christophe Villain, Chief Executive Officer of CECA.
Announced in April 2006, the investment project was completed on schedule. The production plant is now operational, and its products are in specification.
Molecular sieves in double glazing:
Double glazing consists of two glass panes separated by a layer of air, called « air space ». The benefits of double glazing are to provide a thermal and acoustic barrier, the air space acting as a good insulator. Double glazing therefore helps minimise the « cold wall effect », condensation in winter, and heat losses. In practice, the air space is sometimes filled with an inert gas like argon or krypton. The function of molecular sieve (synthetic zeolithe) beads is to trap the water locked in with the gas to prevent condensation during the manufacture of the double glazing and throughout its lifetime.
CECA’s Siliporite® molecular sieves:
With its range of Siliporite® synthetic zeolithes which offer remarkable adsorption, selectivity and durability properties, CECA is one of the world’s leading producers of molecular sieves. Manufactured in Honfleur (Calvados, France) and Inowroclaw (Poland), these aluminosilicates have applications in a variety of sectors, from double glazing in the construction sector, to the drying of natural gas, and the separation of air for the production of medical grade oxygen.
