Initiated by Bostik in 2013, the laboratory-house project for sustainable construction has now become a reality with the inauguration of the Smart House by Arkema. With this unique house concept designed to test, validate and develop new solutions for construction, Arkema and Bostik undertake a real-life demonstration of their know-how regarding materials and energy efficiency. A showroom highlighting the Group’s innovative materials dedicated to construction complements the installation.
Arkema is the main sponsor of the Sail for Water association as part of the latter’s mission to "take action to support universal access to clean drinking water". In the face of the global issue of water quality, Arkema has decided to support this fledgling NGO and lend it its support by supplying water filtration equipment. This humanitarian round-the-world adventure is due to begin on Sunday 11 October in Toulon (83 – Var, France) and will take three years to complete.
NSF International (National Sanitation Foundation) - the US public health and safety organization that draws up standards and tests, and certifies products for the construction, food, water, health and consumer goods industries - has approved Rilsan® Clear G850 Rnew and Rilsan® Clear G170, two fully transparent polyamides, under its NSF/ANSI 51 standard for food equipment materials

In line with its ambition to expand in high growth regions, Bostik, subsidiary of Arkema, extends its production capacities in Bangalore (India). This new hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives (HMPSA) production units will enhance the global adhesives specialist ability to serve customers in the Disposable Hygiene market.
Arkema and Hydro-Québec, through its subsidiary SCE France, have announced the signature of a partnership for the creation of a joint laboratory for research and development in the energy storage sector. More specifically, this laboratory will focus its work on the development of a new generation of materials for the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries, in particular new electrolytes (solvents, lithium salts, etc.) and conduction agents (carbon nanotubes, conductive polymers, etc.).
The annual combined general meeting of Arkema’s shareholders approved on 2 June 2015 the distribution of a €1.85 dividend per share for 2014 with an option for each shareholder to receive the payment of its entire dividend in new Arkema shares. The issue price of the new shares has been set at €61.64.
As part of its sponsorship, Bostik will participate in the famous Tour de France ‘Publicity Caravan’ which accompanies the race. Three eye-catching promotional vehicles will take part in this unique spectacle and will treat spectators to a variety of gifts and giveaways while they await the riders. The vehicles will promote Bostik’s brands and adhesive products with the famous Bostik gecko playing a prominent role in the designs.
To support its customers’ growth, in particular in the refining and petrochemicals sector of Asia and the Middle East, Arkema, through its subsidiary CECA, an adsorption and filtration specialist, announces a project to double production capacity for its specialty molecular sieves. This capacity extension, representing capital expenditure of some €60 million, will take place in France on the Honfleur site dedicated to molecular sieves, with start-up scheduled for summer 2016.

Arkema plans to divest its Sunclear subsidiary, its plastic and aluminium sheet distribution business, to BF Invest, a historical commercial partner of Sunclear. Effective 1st July 2015, Arkema has named Richard Rowe as CEO of Arkema Inc., the group's operations in North America. Rowe succeeds Bernard Roche, CEO since 2008, who is retiring after 42 years with the Arkema organization.
With expertise in sulfur chemistry spanning over 50 years, Arkema is the world’s n° 1 for gas odorants, and offers the largest product range for the odorization of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The Group will take part in the World Gas Conference held in Paris from 1st to 5th June to showcase its portfolio of odorant products and its unique Odorflex® service package for distributors and end-customers.
Availability of polyolefins has been very tight in Europe for several months, causing some shortages and significant cost increases. Arkema will continue to do its best to limit the impact of this situation on Orevac® availability. Due to this exceptional situation, a new price increase will be implemented on its whole Orevac® range (Grafted polyolefins) to recover for all raw materials increases implemented since the beginning of 2015.

Arkema’s Board of Directors, at a meeting on 5 May 2015, decided to propose to the forthcoming annual general meeting on 2 June 2015 the appointment of Mrs Hélène Moreau-Leroy as Director of Arkema for a four-year term. Arkema, the world’s number 1 for specialty polyamides, expands its offering with Rilsan® S, a new biosourced polyamide 6.10 range, partially processed from castor oil. Manufactured at its Zhangjiagang facility in China, it closes the gap between long-chain polyamides and PA6/PA6.6.

Arkema has developed Orevac® 18341, a new maleated polyethylene for the production of halogen-free flame retardant (HFFR) compounds used in cable applications. Orevac® 18341 is especially useful in improving water ageing resistance.
Arkema is actively developing its new Kepstan® PEKK (Poly-Ether-Ketone-Ketone) ultra high performance polymer with applications in the fields of carbon fiber composites and 3D printing. Success in these fields has prompted Arkema to increase its production capacities in France now and in the United States in the near future.

Arkema reinforces its organic peroxide operations with the acquisition of Italian company Oxido, a European player in the formulation of organic peroxides used primarily in synthetic rubber crosslinking.
To expand its current offer to the composites industry, Arkema is launching the Polystrand® range of products in Europe, featuring a full range of glass-reinforced thermoplastic tapes and prepregs. These high performance materials are giving access to lightweight, recyclable and structural composites, for the automotive, transportation, energy, consumer and construction markets.
Arkema has a new grade of Kynar® PVDF resin that provides a whole new set of properties for PVDF. Kynar® UHM™ resin has a high flexural modulus, heat deflection temperature, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, pressure capability and, at the same time, offers excellent creep resistance.
Arkema and Jurong Chemical announce today that they have concluded an agreement regarding the next steps of their cooperation in Acrylics in China. This agreement extends, until January 2016, the period for Arkema to exercise its call option to access a total of 320,000 t/year acrylic acid production capacity.

Effective 3 February 2015, Bernard Pinatel, currently CEO of Bostik, is being appointed a member of Arkema’s Executive Committee. He will succeed Pierre Chanoine who is retiring. Meanwhile, the structure of Arkema’s business segments is changing in the wake of the acquisition of Bostik.
Arkema finalized the acquisition of Bostik, the world’s no. 3 in adhesives, on 2 February. With this acquisition, the Group reaches a new milestone in its development, and confirms its ambition to become a world leader in specialty chemicals and advanced materials. Bostik’s growth prospects and the complementarities identified between the two groups will sustain the success of this high value creating project.
