An incubator to foster breakthrough innovations

Developing high-potential innovations and bringing them to the market is the role of the incubator structure set up by the Arkema group.

In the world of chemistry, as in most other business areas, innovation is the fruit of medium and long-term projects. Several years of development may be required before any commercial results are produced.

Nurturing high-potential projects

The Arkema group set up a unique incubator structure which is designed to support the development of new products. These projects have their own dedicated human, technical and financial resources. The incubator’s aim is to identify high-potential innovative products and to bring them to the market. Afterwards, the business units take on the responsibility for their commercialization.

Nanomaterials, new generation polymers… The Incubator projects are preparing the long-term future of the Group and will soon heavily impact many application fields:

Graphistrength®: 100 times more resistant and 6 times lighter than steel

Graphistrength® multiwall carbon nanotubes are an “allotrope” variety of carbon. Their special crystal structure gives them exceptional mechanical and electrical conductivity properties. They are available in powder form or in predispersed mixes in a matrix.

Nanostrength®: a unique product offer in nanomaterials

Nanostrength® nanomaterials are block copolymers. They combine the properties of their different components and make it possible to design materials which are both rigid and impact resistant. They are used for making composite materials, adhesives and automotive glass.

Apolhya®: exceptional thermal resistance

Apolhya® is a new class of graft polymers (the main molecule has branches of a different chemical nature), which is ideal for the automotive and photovoltaic sectors. These polymers are used as materials or additives and combine flexibility, impact and temperature resistance, transparency and stability.
